For New Clients
If you wish to speak with us about your legal affairs, please contact us after reviewing the following information.
Step One – Initial Appointment
Schedule an initial consultation by calling (360) 693-1630 or emailing us at [email protected].
Step Two – Meeting Preparation
Prepare for the initial consultation by completing the appropriate intake forms, which you will find below.
Step Three – Initial Consultation
Bring all intake forms, requested documents and information to your initial consultation. During this meeting, we will:
- listen to your concerns
- review and discuss your information and documents
- answer your questions
- discuss the legal services we will be able to provide in the future, including the cost of our services
Step Four – Choosing to Move Forward
You will have an opportunity to decide if our firm is a good fit for you. A good working relationship is critical if we are to help you attain your goals. If we agree to provide services, we will confirm our agreement with a written fee agreement or an engagement letter. Further services will need to be confirmed in writing and accompanied by any required fee deposit.
Initial Consultation Fees
For initial consultations other than estate planning and special education matters, we charge a flat fee for one hour. The initial consultation payment is generally due at the time of the appointment.
We do not charge an initial consultation fee separately for estate planning matters. The charge for the consultation will be included in the cost for the estate planning services, which will be established at the conclusion of the initial consultation.
We do not limit consultations for special education consultations to one hour because they often require more time to review education, health care and other records, explore your concerns, explain the law, and discuss how your concerns may be addressed. For special education matters, we simply charge for the time required for the consultation at our current hourly rate.
Telephone consultations are available for prospective clients who live outside the southwest Washington and Portland metropolitan area and cannot meet with us personally. We will discuss your concerns briefly and explain how we may provide legal services for you beyond our phone call, including the cost of our services.
Legal Services Fees
In most cases, you must pay a fee deposit pursuant to our fee agreement or engagement letter if you want us to provide legal services in the future. The amount of the fee deposit varies depending upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the complexity of the case and the issues involved in the case.
We accept the payment in cash, by check, and using your Visa or MasterCard. If you have arranged for someone else to make payments on your behalf, the person who will be financially responsible will be required to sign an agreement to accept financial responsibility, to acknowledge that you are the client, and to acknowledge that our obligation is to our client and not the person who may be financially responsible.
